About
Our Origins
Founder Misha Stallworth West is a third generation elected and civic leader in her family. Building on the legacy of her grandmother and father, Misha ran for office in 2016 in the historic election that restored an empowered school board in Detroit after nearly a decade of state control. She served on the board for two terms, eight years, while continuing her career in nonprofit, community based services across the aging, arts, and civic education sectors.
Those eight years included campaigning during two presidential election cycles and leading a school district through a global pandemic. Her combined experience in community work, campaigning, and elected governance directly informed the vision for United for Good PAC.

When you run for and serve in a down ballot office, a few realities hit you hard:
-
Voters are left in the dark: Our communities often do not know enough about these offices, their responsibilities, or the people running for them, leaving voters without the information needed to choose leaders who align with their priorities.
-
High campaign costs, little to no pay: Many of these seats are expensive to campaign for effectively, yet the roles themselves are often unpaid or volunteer once elected.
-
Top of the ticket competition: Raising money for local races is uniquely difficult, especially when competing for donor attention against presidential, gubernatorial, and congressional campaigns.
-
Institutional neglect: Existing support structures, including endorsing organizations, civic and political membership groups, and major political parties, rarely prioritize races further down the ballot.
-
Barriers to great leadership: Taken together, these challenges make it difficult to recruit and support strong, community rooted candidates in the first place.
Our goal at United for Good is to fill these gaps by exclusively prioritizing down ballot races and partnering with existing civic and political organizations across our neighborhoods. In doing so, we aim to ensure residents are better informed about vital local bodies, like school boards and Boards of Police Commissioners, and empowered to elect leaders who will effectively represent them. Our organization is service driven and everyone involved is a volunteer.
The United for Good team is made up of people who have lived in and advocated for this community for years. For Misha, this work is the natural next step in her lifelong service to Detroit.
For the entire United for Good team, this is an expansion of our shared commitment to building local civic power.
United for Good is a Michigan 527 Independent Expenditure Committee, a Super PAC, meaning we raise and spend money in elections to support candidates and engage voters. Our donor relationships are rooted in the understanding that contributions are trusted investments in the mission we are pursuing, without expectation that any donation would change that mission or our values.
We are a fully independent organization launched in May 2026. The partnerships we cultivate with other community-based organizations and community leaders involved in elections are based on the shared priority of an informed and empowered electorate.
